Kite board or windsurf

Hi, I am from North Raleigh and I visit Wrightsville Beach often in the summer. I am an avid mountain biker and rock climber. Now I am thinking about kite surfing as an ocean sport. I am also looking into windsurfing. Can someone give me a recommendation on which is better for Wrightsville Beach? I know this is a kite forum but I am hoping some of you kite surf and windsurf.

Hey Vanessa,

I don't windsurf, i just kiteboard. From what I've heard, windsurfing is harder to learn. Kiteboarding is more dangerous. With either sport you don't want to limit yourself to Wrightsville Beach, you'll most likely be traveling all over the Cape Fear area, and up to Hatteras. If you get into kiting there's a ton of people around who can help you out. When you first start you should take a lesson. You'll find that Hatteras is the best place to learn.
